Web Devices Fall Arrest Systems has developed products in an effort to improve methods of rescue. In the event of a fall, it will be critical to implement the rescue in a timely manner. If a shock absorbing lanyard is used, the victim could be hanging in their harness 9-1/2’ below the anchor point. If accessibility is restricted in the area below the victim, it may be necessary to have a rescuer rappel to implement the rescue. Since this technique could put the rescuer at risk, we have developed a product to improve this dangerous aspect of rescue.

Our “Rescue Pole, RP815” provides a means to reach the victim by attaching a hoisting assembly between the rear dorsal D-ring and a anchor point. This permits the rescuer(s) to hoist and retrieve the victim.

Since rescue often takes precious time, the victim is in great peril waiting to be rescued. The conventional full body harness after arresting a fall will restrict blood flow in the legs. The leg straps act as tourniquets. If this restriction is not reduced or eliminated, the victim will develop symptoms of “Suspension Trauma”, within minutes of the fall.

Our new product, called “Leg-Up” provides suspension relief while waiting to be rescued. When deployed, this device permits the victim to either sit or stand to substantially reduce or eliminate leg strap tension.
